The Ribbon
Flowers that bloom in the dark. This 25mm printed ribbon carries botanical illustrations against deeply saturated grounds — black, burgundy, charcoal, rust, dusty rose — where the flowers appear as if lit by a single candle in a room with the curtains drawn. These are not the bright florals of spring wrapping paper. They are the florals of Dutch still life paintings, of vintage wallpaper found behind peeled layers in old houses, of fabric you find in antique shops and cannot identify the decade it belongs to. The petals are pale — white, cream, blush — which means they glow against their dark backgrounds with the quiet intensity of stars against a night sky. The fabric is opaque with a soft, matte hand that drapes and folds without stiffness. Eight prints, each one a different garden seen after dark. Sold individually per roll.

The Palette
The inspiration is specific: seventeenth-century Dutch flower paintings. Dark backgrounds. Pale blooms. The drama of light on organic form against a ground that absorbs everything else. We translated that tradition into ribbon by choosing eight dark grounds and painting white, cream, and blush flowers onto each one. The prints are deliberately varied in density — from the heavy, abundant Burgundy Meadow and Black Cherry Blossom to the sparse, minimal Charcoal Sprig — so the collection offers both maximalism and restraint within the same dark palette. Cream Ditsy breaks the rule on purpose: it is the light-ground exception that allows the collection to include a neutral pairing option without requiring a separate product line. The 25mm width is the sweet spot for these prints — wide enough for the botanical detail to read, narrow enough to tie into a bow without the pattern distorting at the fold. The matte fabric was chosen over satin because dark satin reflects light and washes out the print at certain angles. Matte holds the color steady regardless of how the ribbon curves, keeping the flowers visible and the ground dark. Each roll is a small Dutch painting, five yards long, wound onto a spool.

Ribbon Care by Type
- Velvet, Satin & Woven Ribbons:Our ribbons are designed to be kept, reused, and cherished for years. If cleaning is needed, gently hand-wash in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral soap. Avoid wringing or twisting — press out excess water with a clean towel. Lay flat or hang to air dry away from direct sunlight to preserve color. For a smooth finish, use a medium-heat iron or steamer. Pro tip: a hair straightener works perfectly for quick touch-ups between uses.
- Sheer, Organza & Metallic Thread Ribbons:These ribbons are delicate and require extra care. Spot clean only — hand washing may alter their fine, translucent structure. To remove creases, lightly spritz with water and steam on low heat when nearly dry. Do not iron metallic thread ribbons directly — use a pressing cloth to protect the filaments.
- Crinkle, Embossed & Flocked Ribbons:These textures are permanent by design. Do not wash or steam — the surface treatment may be altered. Gently brush off dust with a soft, dry cloth. If slightly misshapen from storage, reshape by hand. A cool-air hairdryer can help restore form without damaging the texture.
